3 Key Lessons from a Year of Teaching AI to Entrepreneurs
This past year has been a wildly enjoyable journey as I set out to help entrepreneurs learn how to meaningfully use Artificial Intelligence (AI) through my course, The AI Advantage Program. The experience has been filled with growth, challenges, and a profound understanding of how AI can transform businesses. Reflecting on the year, I’ve distilled three core lessons that any entrepreneur, whether seasoned or just starting out, can benefit from when implementing AI in their business.
Lesson 1: Early Adoption Holds Great Power
Embrace the New Wave Quickly
One of the most significant lessons I (re)learned from the past year is the undeniable advantage of early adoption. Integrating AI into business early can set a company apart from the competition. This doesn’t just apply to large corporations; in fact, small businesses often find it easier to adopt new technologies because of their agility and flexibility.
When ChatGPT rolled out late in 2022, it opened up massive possibilities for businesses willing to experiment and integrate this tool (and a swathe of others that entered the fray shortly after) into their operations. From automating customer service to enhancing content creation, the applications were - and will continue to be - limitless. However, the real game-changer was not the technology itself but the mindset of jumping on it quickly and learning through real-time application rather than waiting for a perfect approach.
Adopt, Adapt, and Innovate
For entrepreneurs, this means staying on the lookout for technological advancements and thinking creatively about how these can be applied within your business models. The early adopters in my program have not only streamlined their operations but have also positioned themselves as innovative leaders in their respective fields.
Lesson 2: Being a Part of a Community is Invaluable
Collaboration Over Competition
The second lesson revolves around the power of community. AI, with all its complexities, can be daunting to learn and implement (at anything deeper than the surface level). The success of The AI Advantage Program was in the content and in the community that grew alongside it. Entrepreneurs often feel isolated in their challenges, especially when tackling new and emerging technologies like AI. The opportunity to join an AI-focused community - Marketing Power Circle (MPC) - gave founder-led brands a space to “playground” their applications and use cases.
Creating this space where individuals could share their experiences, challenges, and successes with AI made the learning curve less steep and shortened the time to AI implementation. MPC AI Implementation Mastermind members Community members see real-world applications of their learning, get immediate feedback, and adjust their strategies in real-time. This collective learning environment helped demystify AI and made the technology accessible to all members, regardless of their prior expertise. This community fosters an environment of collaboration over competition, where the success of one is a win for all.
Lesson 3: Continuous Learning is Crucial to Gaining AI Mastery
The Landscape is Ever-evolving
My third lesson is about the importance of continuous learning. The field of AI is rapidly evolving, with new developments happening at a breakneck pace. What was relevant a few months ago may be outdated today. Embracing a mindset of continuous learning and adaptability will go far.
